How Vitamin D Can Improve Your Health

By Rey Vetangelo

We all have skin, and we all want our skin to last as long as it possibly can. As we all naturally age, our skin naturally ages as well. It can get wrinkly, stretched out, or covered in unwanted liver spots. There are many older people who wish they had taken better care of their skin when they were young.

Not taking care of your skin can lead to more serious health risks, like skin cancer. Taking care of your skin will help you look and feel better and healthier. One of the best things you can do to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. What most people don't realize is that any excessive exposure to the sun is harmful for your skin.

Children will often have many fears, misconceptions, or preconceived notions about surgery that can cause them great anxiety. It will be vitally important for a parent to prepare their child for surgery by giving them correct information concerning the surgery, clearing up any misconceptions, and by addressing specific fears that the child may have.

One could argue that it is the body's natural defense against depression. Vitamin D in general helps your immune system to be stronger, helping you battle colds and other viruses. Studies have even linked vitamin D to helping people battle cancer. Vitamin D helps your body to control the rapid multiplication of cancerous cells, which slows down the spread of cancer.

Most modern surgical procedures can be done as same-day procedures and allow the child to be taken home the same day. Some, however, will still require that the child stay at the hospital for a day or two for recovery and observation.

Another way to protect your skin when you are outside is to wear protective clothing. You can wear clothing items such as hats, bandannas, scarves, long pants, or leggings to protect your skin from the rays of the sun.

Smoking is also very detrimental for your skin for many reasons. Smoking increases wrinkles and in general, makes you look older. Smoking also contributes to the narrowing of blood vessels in your skin, which serves to decrease blood flow. This lower blood flow makes it so nutrients cannot travel around your body as quickly, and so your body is not getting the nutrients it needs.

Smoking also breaks down the fibers in your skin that help it to be strong and elastic. In general, it is a good idea to avoid smoking. If you are already a smoker, meet with your doctor and try to figure out a plan so you can quit as soon as possible. Quitting smoking will help your health in many other areas besides just your skin health.

By so doing the parent will be able to soothe the anxiety and nervousness that the child may have concerning their upcoming surgery.
