All Credit And Debit Cards Accepted By Google Wallet

Google Wallet, Google's mobile payments platform, used to only work with MasterCard. However, Google has announced that it will now work with all debit and credit cards.

Google Wallet moves forward

Apple, Google and Microsoft seem to be battling for the chance to rule the planet with their electronics. That is why they are expected to fight a lot over offering the product that gets rid of plastic cards and cash forever in place of a smartphone. There are people waiting for that day to take place.

Google Wallet is one of the companies that have mobile payment products that work well right now. It used to only offer the choice to CitiBank debit and MasterCards, according to ArsTechnica, but is has changed its system to work with anything. The mobile payment reader just reads the information on a smartphone and connects it to a bank or credit account. Then, the appropriate amount is used out. It is a really simple system, and there are only a few out that work right now.

Mobile payments going forward

TechCrunch publicized that almost all credit cards will be covered by the Google Wallet change. There will be few credit cards not covered since Discover, American Express, MasterCard and Visa are now all participating in the program.

There are not a ton of Google Wallet consumers right now, but the change was for them. About half of Google's list of supported devices is Samsung. Other devices that will support Google Wallet contain the Asus Nexus 7 tablet, the LG Viper, the LG Optimus Elite and the HTC EVO5G LTE. There will be 8 devices used total. Sprint and Virgin Mobile have the biggest advantage because most of those devices are only accessible through them.

Keeping security essential

The memory on a smartphone no longer stores the data; instead, it is stored on Google's secure servers. That means it is easier to stay away from getting all sensitive information necessary for the purchase hacked. All you have to do is put in your account data for the card on the servers. You can also choose to wipe all financial info off the gadget with another brand new security features.

However, one issue with mobile payment products are that only a few retailers have terminals with NFC readers, so there aren't too many stores one can really use Google Wallet in. At the moment, the few devices that can use it can only be used in one of the few stores that can process the payment.
