How Brazil Is Growing In Farmers Markets

By Robert Sutter

It doesn't take much to figure out that farmers markets are growing tremendously in terms of popularity. Individuals have grown more and more accustomed to having some of the best crops out there and they will be able to attain them if they can cover the prices. For those who can, they will receive items that will improve their health in the long term. Understanding such markets, how has the level of growth changed overtime, more specifically in areas of the world outside of the United States?

If you want to talk about growth in Brazil, it seems as though farmers markets are becoming more popular than ever in this particular region. It's not difficult to see why, especially when there has been such a strong demand for the freshest fruits and vegetables out there. One of Brazil's most prominent cities in Belo Horizonte showed an increase in demand of 10% percent during the first half of 2013 alone. As you can imagine, this is the type story worthy of the attention of authorities such as Colle Farmers Market.

I think most of this has to do with the idea of social media and how there has been far more information brought to the surface. In particular, Brazil's heavy usage of pesticides has been talked about and 11.2 pounds were used per person each year. This is tremendous, to say the least, especially when you considered that the article stated how this is twice as much as what's been utilized in the United States. It goes without saying that changes have to be made in this area.

How important is it to educate people as far as these particular fruit items are concerned? I believe that it is one of the most vital aspects to go about, especially when you think about how many fruits and vegetables have tremendous amounts of pesticides. Strawberries, for example, are especially difficult to rinse off seeing as how their textures possess those characteristic ridges. These bumps, as miniscule as they are, oftentimes make it difficult for cleaning to be done, which is a problem to say the least.

It's apparent that there is a need for organic vegetable markets, in some places more than others. Everyone should have access to the best crops out there and the ones that are treated with natural methods are the ones that I have a hard time arguing against. To me, these are able to stand the test of time better than most other items that you can find at supermarkets. In time, you will start to see just how well these particular crops will be able to benefit your diet.
