Becoming The Blogger You Have Always Wanted To Be

By Tomika Logghe

Does the idea of online blogging intimidate you and create anxiety at the mere thought of it? There is no reason to feel this way, since blogging is a skill that can be developed with a little bit of effort and creativity. Take a look at the ideas presented here in this article, then move forward with confidence in creating your new blog postings.

Don't go too broad with your posts. If you have different skills, try using them on a specific topic. Creating broad blog posts in an uncontrollable way can make your brand dissolve. Even if you have readers that are interested in various topics, you're making it harder for people to recognize your single brand.

Commenting on other people's blogs is an excellent method of raising interest in your own blog. If you're using Google Reader, you can have a separate folder to use for keeping track of the blogs that you should be following. Check out others' blogs regularly, and when you have something to add to the conversation, leave a comment.

Make sure you write about things people find interesting and useful. Everyday chores such as vacuuming and washing dishes are something everyone does. But, absent an innovative, engaging method of discussing such topics, you are unlikely to hold visitors' interest if you talk about them. Pick topics that people will be intrigued by. Your goal in blogging, after all, is to draw people to your site.

Incorporate SEO into your blog. The whole point of a blog is to get people to read it, so you need to ensure that your site appears high in the search results for relevant keywords. Get the most readers by using the most important keywords as part of your title and all through each article on your website.

You want to make sure you are authentic. Don't pretend to know everything. Be honest, be transparent, and be available to your readers. Make this your goal. Remember that blogging is primarily an expression of a person's personality. Don't try to prove your perfection in your blogs; your readers are more likely to respond to you if you feel vulnerable and human. If you make a mistake, then learn from it, and move on. Remember that it's your perceived faults that often make you unique.

Make sure that you are blogging for the right reasons. If you are looking for some quick money, this is not the way to go. Blogging should be more of a hobby. If it becomes something that you start to dread, your writing will not be very good, and you will have less readers.

Guest Posting is a great way to get targeted traffic to your blog. Guest posting is when you write an article on someone else's blog, which in turn will drive targeted and relevant traffic to your own blog. Just make sure you choose a blog that will send quality traffic to your blog. You can do this by selecting a blog that has a good reputation and already has plenty of traffic heading to their site.

Your blog is public and the entire world has access to it, don't forget! You have no idea how many people your blog can reach. This is something you should keep in mind, and look to write quality content that has a big influence on your readers. Not only will it be fun to produce this type of content, you are producing important information.
