MLM - Is Network Marketing Dead?

By Rey McLauren

Network Marketing is a form of marketing that uses individuals to contact to potential customers through direct contact as opposed to blasting out traditional ad sources. Sales are generally won through targeted campaigns at the contacts you have built through your marketing. This type of marketing has been used successfully by companies like Tupperware and Avon for years. It can be a very lucrative venture, but it is not something to jump into overnight. Learning key tips and steps towards success in this arena will be essential to starting a successful network marketing campaign.

The biggest mistake that network marketers make is to lie. Lying on your website, email blasts, or in your initial contact is disastrous for building your business. In this field, trust is your main asset. You need to make sure that your potential clients know that if you are recommending something, that it is the real deal. Do not try to downplay the amount of work that goes into building a network. This is not a business that you can do lying down. It requires hard work and perseverance. Be honest and upfront and the customers that you build will be quality ones.

A network marketing business is a real business and it should be treated as such. This is a point that many people forget or overlook. This is why the website is so important, as it acts as 24 hour a day salesman.

Network marketing will not run itself. You must be able to invest your time into generating income. A lot of individuals start network marketing while they are working at another job. This is a great way to protect yourself during the beginning days while you build your business. However, you have to make sure that you are able to devote the time needed to grow your business. It will not happen without your time and hard work.

Make the most of your drop cards by learning the most effective ways to use them. After you fill up your tank with gas, place one in the credit card slot of the pump. Put your junk mail to use by removing the envelopes that don't require postage and using them to mail cards to prospects. Place a card or two in the free magazine racks at grocery and convenience stores. Visit local bookstores and place a card in the location of home-based business books, self-help books and any other relevant areas. Leave them at any restaurants or hotels that you visit. You never know whose hands are going to sizzle when they pick up your card and see opportunity written all over it.

You should always provide your reader with value. You need to post articles that are relevant to the reader. Everything that you give your audience will come back to you. It takes time for readers to get into the habit of coming back, but as they see what you have to offer, they will be back.

Most marketers have generally held normal 9 to 5 jobs before switching over to this field. In the normal job market, you chose a job based on your hourly rate. For some reason, people tend to forget that their is an hourly value to their work when they move over to network marketing.

This is a mistake that can be very costly. There are many different ways to build your network, but each one takes different amounts of times. Calculate the amount of time it takes you to build a contact and make sure to include time spent on the phone, driving, sending emails, and creating content. If the time spent costs more than the contacts you make from the effort, it may be time to try a different method.

You can give free reports by spending a little money, and then add pages to it over time. As everything is electronic, you can save every page so that the information is never lost. As things change, you make small changes without spending large amounts of money (this was not the case when you had to print and manufacture marketing material just ten years ago).

Be sure to not make a bare bones website. Customers have gotten a lot more web savvy over the past few years. A website that looks like it was just slapped together will be ignored. Take time in creating as much useful content for your site visitors as possible. Think of all the questions you would have coming upon your site as a visitor and make sure your site contains the answers to them all. The better a job you do on your site, the more likely you are to convert a visitor into a full fledged lead.

Although it's starting to push past the stigma and stand out as an effective way to profit, multi level marketing is still a dangerous game to play if you're not informed on how the business works. Make sure that you're willing to do more than just read these tips. You need to execute them to ensure your success.
